Question re PRK
Submitted by jamiehorn on Sat, 2009-02-14 16:23.
I am scheduled for PRK on April 21. I am flying to Hawaii for 2 weeks (May 9-23).
For all of you who have had the surgery, should I wait until I return from Hawaii, or just continue as planned? Doc said it should be OK, but after reading posts, I'm a little unsure.
Thanks for your input.

Jamie: I hate fumbling for reading glasses, but not ready for your decision yet; but I am responding to your question about going to Hawaii with or without having done procedure.
I am the guy elsewhere on blog who was ticked off & waxed a bit long on my vasectomy experience, and had lots of typos to boot, I was so mad. But I didn't, in my impassioned warning, mention the fact that I had at end of 2000 decided it would be good for my (self employed) business if I just COMBINED the, by all accounts "no big deal" vasectomy recovery WITH my expensive trip to WI to see family & enjoy (I'm a southerner now) some SNOW at Christmas...I departed a day or two after the surgery...
...Bad deal to recuperate on a trip intended for enjoyment, in my opinion, anyway...If this IS the purpose of your Hawaii trip, not business...I still recall lying in my inlaws living room with a pillow between my knees (embarassing, folks, but they knew). Likewise walking thru deep snow while it still felt, as it would for some years, as if urologist had welded my vas deferens to my scrotum wall (Which in fact is done, another thing they don't really advertise) So, in short, I think you're taking chance of making a bad memory, unless you can afford to go to Hawaii all the time.
Best of Luck, and recall, Dollar Tree stores have reading glasses in many styles for $1.00 lol. Andy
P.S. I DO have an old and smallish CRT monitor, with increasingly poor focus, but maybe you should consider unusual my new willingness to go on without surgical "improvements" to myself: In my post, elsewhere,
I TWICE called our blog host "Matt Herring" not "Matt Fleming." I only read his name correctly tonite! (An "m" doesn't look THAT much like two "rr's" and a capitol F even less like a capitol H.)
P.P.S.: In my defense, however, even WEARING glasses, this screen just goes from blurry grey letters on white to sharp multicolored pixels forming blurry letters, if you know what I mean.
LOL
To Andrew: I love reading your rants.
To jamiehorn: I wouldn't take a trip to some place "big" like Hawaii right after surgery. I'd put it off until the week you get back.
