PRK 6-11-09
Submitted by bocs on Tue, 2009-06-16 02:21.after much research, I decided to have PRK done eventhough I could have had lasik done. It may have been a mental thing but having the lasik flap hang over my head which doesn't really heal even after years...I decided I'd take the pain and longer recovery of PRK.
*I'm 36 years old
Day of surgery: (http://www.woolfsoneye.com/)
I expected another doctor to preform the procedure, but was suprised when Dr. Woolfson himself handled my PRK. It really is a relief to have a doctor who has done over 65,000 procedures and who other doctors, including the Atlanta Facons trust with their eyes!!!
PRK Log - Surgery 5-29-09
Submitted by sevenvii on Thu, 2009-05-28 12:30.Hello,
Want to say first of all how great I have found the experiences listed her(both good/bad)have been for my research into having corrective eye surgery.
I was recommended by the Dr. to have PRK instead of Lasik due to a thin cornea in my left eye. Surgery is scheduled for 9 am tomorrow, have my RX filled for an antibiotic, and the do's and don'ts for tomorrow. Other than that, not much to report, I will keep you all informed as the process unfolds.
PRK success -- patience is key
Submitted by scott_l on Tue, 2009-04-07 17:17.I thought I would post my experience, because outside of this site, I couldn't find much information -- and I got really nervous a few times during my healing. Hopefully this will help someone else.
Started at about -4 to -5 with slight stigmatisms and some occasional dryness and seasonal allergy issues. I was given a choice of PRK or Lasik, but encouraged strongly to go with PRK for a number of reasons.

My PRK Blog
Submitted by dcesq on Thu, 2009-03-12 12:33.I read many testimonials on this website and wanted to offer mine for all considering PRK. I was not a LASIK candidate (like most of you, I am guessing) and chose PRK as an alternative. After reading about the recovery process I rescheduled the procedure so that I could take some time off work and to accomodate my travel schedule. I had surgery yesterday and will continue to post on this blog.

Question re PRK
Submitted by jamiehorn on Sat, 2009-02-14 16:23.I am scheduled for PRK on April 21. I am flying to Hawaii for 2 weeks (May 9-23).
For all of you who have had the surgery, should I wait until I return from Hawaii, or just continue as planned? Doc said it should be OK, but after reading posts, I'm a little unsure.
Thanks for your input.

another new prk patient
Submitted by Carphunter on Wed, 2009-01-14 19:33.Had mine done on the 5th of Jan.
When I came out from under the laser, I didn't have the "holy God...I can see!" feeling. I was better than before without contacts... but obviously not up to snuff.
Slept most of that day and night. Valium helps ignore the goggles.
For the following 4 days, I could see at distances a little better each day. Getting used to the drops, accumulated dried crud from drops on lashes, slight eye scratchiness (not bad at all...kinda like a contact that's been in slightly too long).
New PRK Patient Here
Submitted by BronzeEyes on Mon, 2009-01-12 08:03.Hi,
I really found the progress blog helpful here.
I started a blog too, at bronzeeyes.wordpress.com.
I am being as specific as possible.
Wish me luck!!
Long Term Results?
Submitted by BillU on Wed, 2008-07-16 15:26.I was researching Lasik and came across www.lasiksucks4u.com, which completely turned me off to Lasik for good (and for good reason). However, the option of PRK was still on the table as the procedure is inherently safer and carries less risk than Lasik (no flap, etc.). This site has been great and I loved reading everyone's experiences, however, most of the comments only talk about the first week or first few weeks or recovery. What about long term results and satisfaction? Did all of your dryness and light sensitivity and halo/starburst issues go away?
PRK with Custom Wavefront Technology
Submitted by acambisi on Fri, 2008-07-04 15:40.To start off, I really enjoyed reading the postings in this forum prior to, and after my PRK vision correction. Naturally I did a lot of research on the standard LASIK procedure before I even went in for my vision check / pre op appointment. There my heart was broken when I was told that I have LARGE pupils and would be a better candidate for PRK. At first I questioned the whole idea and wondered if PRK would produce the same vision correction I have heard so many good things about LASIK.
